(Video) Meet Bryan and Brooke Zar, owners of Restaurant des Familles in Crown Point, Louisiana. As part of an initiative to keep local small businesses across the Gulf viable during the oil spill, BP hired the Zars to feed oil spill response workers. As a result, this husband-and-wife team was able to employ locals and keep their doors open. "It’s been tough, but we’re still cooking," says Brooke. Watch the video below to hear their story. And visit their restaurant for fresh, local seafood and picturesque Bayou views through its 12-foot high windows.

Mississippi to launch a multi-platform tourism campaign with the theme “Wish You Were Here” aimed at boosting tourism in the state. The campaign was funded through the use of a $10 million grant from BP and will include nearly 200 television commercials. “Any type of national advertising to get the word out … is good for all of us in the short term and the long term,” said Bill Holmes, a member of the Gulf Coast Tourism Commission. (Video) Meet Pete Floyd, a commercial fisherman from Pascagoula, Mississippi, whose family has been fishing the Gulf for eight generations. Pete was hired by BP as a Vessels of Opportunity cleanup captain during the oil spill operations and has since returned to fishing. "[BP] worked with all kinds of people here in Mississippi," he says. "Now that we’re back on the water, things are getting a whole lot better." Watch below.

Country music star Alan Jackson closed out the Gulf’s “Concerts for the Coast” Saturday evening to 10,000 fans in Alabama. This event was the final in a series of concerts funded by BP that included other acts such as Bon Jovi and Jimmy Buffet. (Seafood Update) New tests for dispersants are being used on thousands of seafood samples from the Gulf of Mexico and all findings indicate that fish, oysters, shrimps, and more are safe. “The precautionary approach we took to fisheries re-openings, along with active monitoring and testing of fish continue to give us confidence in seafood’s safety,” said Vicki Seyfert-Margolis, with the Food and Drug Administration.
